Day six/ Final out come

Over all from this project I learnt that I need to focus on my modeling and drawing skills and then I can reflect my idea more coherently. This will also make it eaiser for my research to feed into my work.

Day five

As the size of the bus stop is meant to be so large I thought it would be interesting to combined all of the bus stops into one multi storie bus stop, which has various different path ways depending on how long you had to wait for the bus.

I then looked at the official TFL criteria for building bus stops and I realises there are many things that a bus stop has to do before you can think what you would like it to do

Day four

I began to think about all of the raw talent in London this lead me to think that it would be exciting to create a bus stop which celebrates all the raw talent in London.

Firstly I thought it would be interesting to have a set of bus stops in various different locations celebrating different elements of London's raw talent

Day three

Heatherwick buses

I wanted to look at Heatherwick buses as they are new buses for London, I understand that Heatherwick wanted to make London buses 'less cluters' all of these buses are all partly solar powered this is something I would want to carry on at my bus stop

Day two

I then thought about what is the purpose of a bus stop is?

  • A place for the bus to stop at
  • To give shelter
  • A place to wait

Then I asked people what they wanted from a bus stop is they could have anything they wished?
  • Top up oyster
  • cafe
  • toilets
  • games
  • heating/ ac
  • snacks
  • umbrella holder
  • mirrors
  • doors
  • comfortable seats
  • bus times /info
Some of these things where more realistic than other

Day one

First I looked at the differences between London, Barcelona and New York bus stops.

What I did notice is that Barcelona bus stops are often solar powered and are bold but simple with the colours they use. New York bus stops seem to be strongly supported by advertising this makes them seem very different. Unlike London bus stops which all seem to be extremely similar when it comes from location to location.

This lead me to look as social seating so I looked at Alfredo Haberli
His work inishally intrested me as he he wanred his seating to have more that just the purpose to me sat one. He wanted to bring people together, this mult funtioning seating could be used from a number of differnet things so that people could be together but not having to do the same thing. Eg this seats below are designed so that you can sit talking to on another, however still see the view around you, also to be used to lean on and could me used as a goal or some kind of climing frame.
And Martin Niclausso

His work intrested me as he wanted to take spaces that wont being used for anything and turne them into socail spaces, spaces people could stop and have a break, have a chat. This strongly fits in with the tradional spanish way of life.

Outline of the Project

This project is about working to a lose brief however still creating something unique and original.

My brief was to create a 5 meter by 10 meter bus stop. I have not been set a persifice loacation however I think it is best to set in London

Day six/ final outcome

Day five

David Chipperfield Knight house -I liked this building as due to the mininulistic architecture and
open plan style it allows many elements of the outside in giving a sence of being outside and insdie at
the same time

TR Hamzah & Yeang Roof roof house
I like how the plants are part of the building
Procter & Rihl Casa slice porto alegre brazil -This is the one of my favourit bit of arcitecture I have come across due to the garden being completely drawn into the house, the angles of the glass roof give the plants enough light to grow

Day four

Feng Shui

It was intresting looking in to Feng Shui as there is a lot I did not know about it

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feng_shui

http://fengshui.about.com/

It is intresting how you can transform your home to follow more of the feng shui rules additonaly there are more powerful guideline for building a house supporting the feng shui rules

Day three

Lina Bo Bardi Glass house- what I liked about this design was how it was like nothing else I had seen before. Also how the house is almost intertwined into the garden, the garden is more than the house unlike traditionally it being the opposite

Rick mather Hampstead House - the light is what first interested me about this building, the minimalist style of architecture is also extremely cool and crisp, this is opposing to the warm colour of light flowing through the whole building

Losep Lluis Sert sert house - the building caught my attention due to the massive internal court yard, the court yard almost takes over the house rather than being a design feature of the house
